The landscape and nature painter Rudolf Anton Guba was born in Hamburg in 1884. In 1925 he moved to Karlsbad and from there to Munich in 1935, where he lived and worked until his death. Study trips took him to Austria, Holland, and the North Sea. Guba's works were influenced by Romanticism and the early phase of Impressionism. He was particularly interested in light and atmosphere. A large number of landscapes, mainly in earth colors, but especially seascapes and harbor pictures, have survived from Guba.
