Egge Sturm-Skrla took private painting lessons from Karl Haunold in Vienna between 1907 and 1909 and continued his studies between 1911 and 1914 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Rudolf Bacher and Rudolf Jettmar. He traveled to South Tyrol and Italy, where he learned the fresco technique from Murr and Bellatti. From 1919 he was a member of the Hagenbund and from 1921 of the Wiener Künstlerhaus and the "Neue Vereinigung". In 1926 he worked together with Anton Faistauer on the frescoes of the Salzburg Festival Hall. From 1929 to 1935 he ran a master school for fresco painting in Ronco near Ascona in Switzerland. After that he returned to Vienna. Works by Egge Sturm-Skrla are now in the Belvedere and in the Wien Museum.
