Jakob Benjamin Reiser was born in Munich in 1902. As a young man, he attended the technical school for letterpress printing and chemigraphy. He then studied fresco painting for one semester at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Martin von Feuerstein. However, he graduated from the Staatliche Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. Numerous works by Reiser can be found on public buildings in Schongau, Upper Bavaria. A memorial stone from his hand for the Schongau forestry office in the Sachsenried forest, which refers to the Hubertus legend, stands at the intersection of the Sachsenried-Osterzell road and the Aschtaler Weg. In Munich, too, many of Reiser's works are preserved in municipal schools, kindergartens and offices.
