Otto Nückel has been drawing and painting since childhood. After dropping out of medical school in Freiburg im Breisgau, he moved to Munich to continue his professional development as a painter. Nückel was a member of the artists' association "Munich Secession" and the "7 Munich Painters". He was one of the first to work with lead cutting. He caused a sensation with his book "Fate. A Story in Pictures" (Delphin Verlag, Munich, 1930). Nückel earned his living as an employee of the satirical magazines "Simplicissimus" and "Simpl" as well as the children's magazine "Ping-Pong". He designed illustrations and caricatures. His entire work is dominated by the bizarre and a profound irony, which can even be scathing sarcasm works.
